Own Mantra: Sleep Hypnosis · Last updated 17 August 2026
Own Mantra creates personalized sleep hypnosis audio. This policy explains exactly what the app collects, where it goes, and how to delete it. It is written to be read, not to be skimmed past.
None of this is uploaded to us for storage. We do not operate a user database, and we cannot see your answers or your library.
Creating audio requires a text-to-speech service. Everything goes by way of our own relay server, so no service credential is ever inside the app.
If you use one of the built-in voices, the text of your session is sent to ElevenLabs, Inc. (elevenlabs.io/privacy). For personalized programs that text includes the answers you wrote, because those answers are part of the words being spoken aloud. No voice recording is sent, because you are not using your own voice.
If you use your own voice, the text of your session and one of your recorded passages are sent to fal.ai (fal.ai/privacy), which runs the Chatterbox speech model. The recording accompanies the request purely so the model can match your voice for that one line, and nothing is stored afterwards.
The app asks for your explicit permission before any of this is sent for the first time. You can decline and still use every program with the built-in voices.
A voice recording is sensitive, so it gets its own rules:
Most of what you hear is identical for everyone, so those parts are recorded in advance and simply downloaded rather than generated for you. Your app fetches them from GitHub Pages, GitHub's static file hosting, at dylantrussell.github.io.
These are plain audio file downloads. No answers, no recordings, and no account information are sent when they happen. GitHub receives what any web server receives when a file is requested, including your IP address. Once a file has been downloaded it is stored on your phone and is not requested again.
The app talks to our server rather than to ElevenLabs directly, so that service credentials are never shipped inside the app. The server passes your request through and returns the audio. It keeps a per-device counter of usage volume, identified by a random identifier generated on your device, purely to prevent abuse and runaway cost. That identifier is not linked to your name, your email, or your answers, and the content of your requests is not logged or stored.
Everything the app holds is on your device. To erase it:
To ask a question about data we may hold on the relay server, write to the address below and we will respond within 30 days.
Own Mantra is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect information from them.
Own Mantra is a relaxation and sleep aid. It is not medical treatment, it does not diagnose or treat any condition, and it is not a substitute for professional care. If sleep problems persist, talk to a doctor.
If this policy changes materially, the date at the top will change and the updated policy will appear at this address before the change takes effect.
